Job Description
R.J. Grondin & Sons is currently looking for a qualified Lead Person to join the team. In addition to physical construction skills, this position requires problem solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well with others.
Responsibilities:
- Hand shoveling to locate buried utilities.
- Spotting for an operator while excavating on a job site.
- Moving and/or cutting material such as pipe or conduit on the job site with the use of a pipe saw.
- Back filling trenches and holes with the use of shovels and compactors to job site specifications.
- Safely using rigging to move materials or structures on the job site.
- Leveling sidewalks, roads, or grassy slopes with the use of rakes and shovels prior to paving or seeding operations.
- Assisting with the installation of granite curb.
- Installation of light pole bases.
- Able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Additional responsibilities:
- Site lay out with laser level and or GPS technology.
- Providing direction to one or more employees to get a smaller part of a larger task completed during the day.
- Taking the lead on a job as the competent person when the foreman is not available.
- Working with plans and specs for a task that may be part of a larger project to complete heavy earth work.
