R. J. Grondin and Sons is seeking a proven leader to join their growing team as a Heavy Equipment Shop Supervisor. As one of New England’s premier construction companies and a leader in heavy highway, commercial site and other earth moving projects, R.J. Grondin & Sons is looking for someone to uphold the company’s standards of quality and customer satisfaction while safely completing preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs to its substantial fleet of heavy iron and trucks. The right candidate will have excellent communication, and troubleshooting skills to help support the field operations as well as our maintenance facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with the owners, project superintendents and foreman to effectively bring downed equipment back on line in a timely manner.
- Manages the day-to-day functions of the maintenance facility and schedules employees and resources to stay ahead of the maintenance needs of the company.
- Responsible for the safety performance of the maintenance facility
- Manage a staff of up to 6 mechanics and 2 welders
- Represent the company’s best interest in dealing with vendors and suppliers
- Be fiscally responsible for the maintenance facility as a cost center.
- Make use of the Teletrac tracking system to prioritize maintenance and repair needs while documenting costs associated with work done on owned pieces of equipment.
- Develop task specific plans and be involved with repair means and methods.
- Supports the company safety program through communication with all members of the maintenance facility and assure that all scheduled safety related inspections are completed.
- Must be a self-starter
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 5 years of related mechanical and leadership experience
- Must have valid drivers license and be insurable by the company.
- Experience with Microsoft products and be familiar with diagnostic tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills (tact, motivation, diplomacy)
- Able to manage multiple tasks at once
- Good written and Oral communication skills
