R.J. Grondin & Sons broke ground at the new Ready Seafood site which is a design-build project on Route 1 in Saco, Maine, in October of 2018, knowing that the owner needed to do an entire buildout of the 52,000 square-foot building, from start to finish in 11 months – a very aggressive schedule. The new facility is the largest lobster processing operation in Maine with state-of-the-art technology and on-site storage. R.J. Grondin & Sons imported over 50,000 cubic yards of granular fill, sub-base gravels and base gravels in short order to allow the building contractor to start pouring concrete as soon as possible to meet strict specifications and more importantly, deadlines. The site was developed on 40 acres of raw land so all utilities such as water, sewer, drainage systems and a large stormwater pond were needed to develop the site. The site work was turned over to the owner on time and under budget.
