When the City of Saco started the planning process for the Ready Seafood project, they knew they needed to extend their sewer infrastructure to support not only this new business but also other current and future businesses along the busy, Route 1 corridor. R.J. Grondin & Sons was the successful low bidder on this sewer main infrastructure project. The project consisted of connecting into an existing sewer manhole on Route 1 and running the new 8” sewer main in the southbound travel lane, northward up Route 1 for approximately 2,000 lineal feet as well as lateral services for individual businesses. Depths of the excavations ran between 8 and 15 feet deep. After installation of the new pipe and sewer manhole structures, the Route 1 travel lane had to be restored to Maine Dept. of Transportation specifications, which were all done, inspected and ahead of schedule so Ready Seafood could open on time.
